Hi, I’m Molly!

About

Thanks for checking-in to learn about me! Before I had a true sense of self, I became a mom. I had my son, Xavier, during junior year of high school and instead of dropping out, as teen mom stereotypes would suggest, I earned three degrees in five years while working part-time and being a single mom. Thank God for family support!

Fast forward to now, and my son graduated from Yale and lives in NYC. This has given me the time, headspace and risk tolerance to create a new baby: Amplify {Women of Color

Career

I’ve worked on the Oil & Gas industry for 25 years in a variety of commercial and technical roles. I’m an interdisciplinary thinker and geek out on root cause analysis, deep technical research and collaborative problem solving. I’m energized by meaningful engagement and love learning people’s stories and appreciating different perspectives.

Throughout my career, I have advocated for gender equality, by starting two women’s networks, mentoring dozens of young women and doing my best to lead by example.

Why Amplify?

It all started last November when I lost my job for the 5th time in my career. I’m intelligent, resourceful and hardworking and could not help but wonder how my gender, ethnicity and consistently underrepresented status contributed to these “business decisions”.

I’ve worked for gender equality throughout my career and have observed negligible systemic change in Corporate America.

On the flip side, I’ve been on a healing journey for over a decade and have experienced transformational personal change. The most impactful practice for me has been silent meditation and during a meditation retreat a few years ago, I was invited to a meditation session exclusively for the self-identified Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) community. There was a noticeable difference meditating with the marginalized, misunderstood and underrepresented.

  • We were no longer the minorities, could let down our guard and breathe a little easier.

  • We could focus all of our effort on meditating – the whole reason why we were there!

When I went back to the bigger mixed group meditation, I knew my BIPOC community was rooting for me.

  • I sat a little taller.

  • meditated a little deeper.

  • I breathed a little easier – knowing that I was not alone!

All of this happened in total SILENCE!

Imagine what we can do if

  • We bring words to this community.

  • Take action as a community.

  • AMPLIFY this community!

My goal for this group is to foster a community of non-judgement, encouragement and empowerment. I truly believe our collective strength, wisdom and love can overcome any challenge!

White women and men are important allies and inclusive content will be developed with Amplify community engagement. True allies understand the need for exclusive and safe spaces for Women of Color and respect healthy boundaries.

This is my why and I look forward to expanding it in collaboration with each of you!
